Eco-Site in the heart of the Gers valleys

Beauty lies in simplicity

The Gers, its valleys and the unspoilt beauty of Occitanie’s natural spaces were love at first sight for the Donnais family from Eastern France.

Just 7 km from Mirande, the estate extends over 50 hectares, perfect for the family and its 60 Arabian horses.

The 5 children, together with their parents and employees, take care of the upkeep of the site, the breeding of horses, the construction of new unusual accommodations when they need to be renewed, welcoming guests, proposing unusual activities in harmony with Nature, and making the site harmonious and welcoming all year round.

A family-run estate with a warm, sincere welcome and a close relationship with others, a friendly spirit is a core value, in addition to the professional maintenance of the accommodation and the services on offer.

The unusual accommodations have been chosen for their noble materials, mainly wood for the cabanes carrés d’étoiles and roulottes, and canvas for the tipi-lodges, tents and huts.

Environmentally-friendly construction and layout, as all our unusual accommodations are adapted to the contours of the Gers valleys and hills, with unique views from each habitat: roulottes facing the lake, carré d’étoiles facing the hills, cabane perchée in the woods and huts and tipis overlooking a unique natural area.

In order to work in harmony with the existing and ecological values, various works and intentions were laid down: sewage treatment by a filter planted with reeds, replanted hedgerows, low bitumen input, the choice of parking to avoid traffic on the estate, presence-detecting lights, rainwater retention for watering and selective sorting, as well as a pedagogy of booklets designed on site, intended for young and old concerning environmental awareness….

In the 15 years we’ve been working on the domaine d’estipouy, in the Gers, and setting up unusual accommodation, the area has undergone a real improvement, both in terms of the replanted varieties that have developed and the intense, thriving presence of a multitude of bird species and small animals that have found their place and feel just as at home here as the humans passing through for a unique stay with the family, as a couple, solo, for a marriage in the spirit of sharing simplicity, authenticity and heart.

Our CSR commitments

Set in the heart of unspoilt nature, Domaine d’Escapa is a pioneer in ecotourism, integrating sustainable practices into every aspect of its operation. Our accommodations, designed with natural, locally-produced materials, minimize environmental impact while supporting the regional economy. Come and discover how, beyond a simple stay, you can actively participate in preserving biodiversity and conserving natural resources. With us, every aspect of your seminar – from accommodation to waste management – is designed to respect and enrich the local environment.

Eco-responsibility at the Domaine

At the heart of environmental concerns, Domaine d’Escapa stands out for its strong commitment to eco-responsibility. Nestled in an unspoilt natural setting, our estate takes a holistic approach to ecotourism, integrating sustainable practices into every aspect of its operations and tourism offering.

Eco-designed, locally manufactured accommodation

Accommodation in natural materials

At Domaine d’Escapa, we give priority to ecological and renewable materials. Our accommodations, including cabins, trailers, star squares, huts as well as yurts and tipis, are mainly built of wood. Canvas, used for tipis, tents and yurts, reinforces our commitment to a minimal ecological footprint.

Local manufacturing and reduced carbon footprint

Our homes are manufactured locally, minimizing the impact of transport. Yurts and huts are made in Estipouy, on the commune’s territory, and trailers are produced nationally. This choice of local production not only supports the regional economy, but also contributes significantly to reducing our carbon footprint.

Internet connection on the estate

At Domaine d’Escapa, we have made the conscious choice not to install WiFi in our accommodation. This decision is part of our commitment to reducing our ecological footprint and encouraging our visitors to disconnect from everyday life. In addition to promoting a reconnection with nature and the essential, we are determined to preserve wave-free zones, to ensure the healthiest possible environment for our visitors. We firmly believe that this initiative contributes to a more authentic and enriching experience, allowing everyone to enjoy the calm and beauty of our surroundings, reconnect with loved ones, and fully immerse themselves in the serenity of our estate.

Biodiversity and natural conservation

Preserving and developing biodiversity

In 2019, Adasea measured a significant positive impact of our estate on the local environment. The increase in bird species and the massive development of flora are testimony to our efforts to maintain and enrich biodiversity. Our practices include the conservation of dead wood, essential for certain species such as the pipistrelle bat.

Natural management of green spaces

We practise ecological management of the pastures, with measured rotations and cuttings to encourage natural, cyclical flowering. This careful management of the land has enabled us to recreate habitats for various species of butterfly, enriching the biodiversity of the estate.

Ecological resource management

Advanced sanitation techniques

Domaine d’Escapa uses a natural reed filter sanitation system. This chemical-free phytodepuration system guarantees the return of clean water to nature, preserving the quality of our local environment.

Resource conservation and management

We have replanted 1.5 km of hedgerows, following the recommendations of Arbre et Paysage, to reinforce our commitment to biodiversity and ecological management of green spaces.

Community involvement and relational ecology

Collaboration and community development

Virginie, the initiator of our relational ecology, integrates all visitors and employees in a collaborative and respectful spirit. This approach fosters autonomy and freedom, reinforcing the link between personal and estate development. We also ensure the inclusion of all our visitors by providing access and sanitary facilities adapted for people with reduced mobility (PRM) at reception, guaranteeing accessibility and comfort for everyone.

Food practices and waste management

In collaboration with a vegetarian caterer, we give priority to local and packaging-free purchases. Our composting area illustrates our commitment to waste reduction and recycling.

Join us at Domaine d’Escapa for an eco-responsible experience that will leave a lasting impression. Book your next stay now and contribute to a cause that goes beyond the borders of our estate, that of a greener, more responsible future. Discover for yourself how nature and well-being blend perfectly here at Domaine d’Escapa.

All our accommodation is made of wood and recyclable materials, and most of it is nomadic, always in the spirit of having the least negative impact possible on our planet. Rainwater is collected for the horse troughs and to feed the various lakes. Finally, reeds have been planted to filter and clean wastewater naturally.

Since education and well-being are two essential aspects of any transition, our domain is positioned on the side of playful learning and “taking time” as the basis for positive metamorphosis. That’s why we offer a wide range of activities focused on reconnecting with oneself and taking care of oneself. With this in mind, we offer an exploration trail that encourages and motivates travelers to use their five senses in nature, and to marvel at its treasures.

The estate is bordered by a horse breeding farm, and watching them play, run and flourish brings another dimension of freedom to the area. The horses are pampered by Lilian and Virginie’s son, César, who can pass on his passion and love of horses.
